UCSC Alumni Making a Difference
Washington Post reporter Dana Priest (B.A. politics, Merrill '81) received a Pulitzer Prize in April 2006, becoming the fifth UCSC graduate to receive journalism's highest honor (link to Currents Online).
Priest, who broke the story of CIA-run secret prisons, was honored for her coverage of the government's counterterrorism campaign. Shown here interviewing an Afghan farmer, Priest covers national security for the Washington Post. She discussed her work during a visit to campus in March, when she received the Division of Social Sciences' first Distinguished Alumni Award.
An ongoing series of profiles celebrates the achievements of UCSC alumni--like Dana Priest.
