The 2,400-acre oak-studded grassland property in San Benito County, which has served as a cattle ranch for most of the last 100 years, becomes the 42nd reserve within the University of California’s Natural Reserve System (NRS) and the seventh UC Santa Cruz reserve.

UC Santa Cruz announces a new 2,400-acre UC Reserve

The gift of oak-studded grassland property in San Benito County, along with a stewardship endowment to UC Santa Cruz, will establish the Strathearn Ranch Reserve as part of the UC Natural Reserve System. The new reserve will provide valuable educational and research opportunities and conserve the land in perpetuity.
