New hope for children with hard-to-treat cancers

The UC Santa Cruz Colligan Clinical Diagnostic Laboratory has been cleared to accept and test patient samples, using a newly clinically validated test that could identify life-saving treatment options, particularly for pediatric cancer patients.

A new study found that AI chatbots perpetuate biases when performing empathy. The study explored how GPT-4o, the latest model from OpenAI, evaluates and replicates the ability to understand and share another person’s feelings—and found major gaps.
